Shinjuku Marui: "Exhibition of Expressing Women 4" - The Birth of "Mimosa" & "Hana"

"Exhibition of Expressing Women 4": Memories of Creation and New Expressions (2024.1.11 - 1.31)

From January 11th to January 31st, 2024, we participated in the "Exhibition of Expressing Women 4" held at "Beauty Stand Plus (BSP)" on the 8th floor of Shinjuku Marui Main Building. In this exhibition, works with special backgrounds symbolizing the path of Jun*Juane so far were lined up.

"Mimosa" of Healing and Prayer

One of the exhibited works, "Mimosa", was painted by Tae Morikawa with the wish that Jun Iwasaki would feel even a little brighter while he was hospitalized. We layered prayers for a speedy recovery on the flower language of mimosa: "gratitude, friendship, compassion."

Unique Style "Hana" Born from an Accidental Mistake

The birth of the work "Hana" (Flower) has an episode that determined Jun*Juane's current art style.

Originally, it was produced as a thank-you gift for the BSP manager who always supports us, but when printing the original goldfish photo, it was printed in a completely different color from the original due to a malfunction of the equipment. Seeing it, the manager laughed with us saying "It looks like Junji Inagawa," and murmured, "But, I like this."

For Tae Morikawa, who felt awestruck to add further touches to the completed world projected by Jun Iwasaki, this coincidence of "misprint" and the manager's words became a big push. The thought of "turning what should have been discarded into art with new value" overlapped, and the current style of applying drawing on top of photographs was established.

Since this work is currently in a private collection, it became a precious exhibition borrowed specially for this occasion.

"Ballet Dancer x Goldfish" Collaboration

At the venue, we also exhibited collaboration works with the ballet costume brand "Ange Mignon." It presented the expansion of new expressions where the swaying of elegant goldfish fins and the dynamic silhouettes of ballet dancers fused.
