Kokura Castle Keep: Third Solo Exhibition, "Fantastic World of Goldfish" Immersed in Five Senses

Kokura Castle Keep: Third Solo Exhibition, "Fantastic World of Goldfish" Immersed in Five Senses (2024.5.14 - 5.19)
In May 2024, we held our third solo exhibition at Kokura Castle Keep in Fukuoka Prefecture. This time, we challenged a new production where you can experience the space itself as a single work.
Our Works Swimming Out and Experience Inside the Tank
A major attempt this time was to design not only the visuals but also the auditory and the atmosphere of the venue. We hung a large cloth in the venue and projected an original video created based on our works onto it using a projector. The cloth swaying in the wind of the air conditioner looked like fins of real goldfish swaying underwater, breathing new life into our projected works.
While the enveloping ambient music was playing, we received many voices from visitors saying, "It's like we are inside a water tank." Seeing everyone comfortably immersed in the fantastic world we created, we strongly felt the response of making the space itself a work of art.
New Work "Goldfish Graffiti" with Layered Drawings
In this solo exhibition, we unveiled 6 new works of "Goldfish Graffiti", where I applied drawings to Jun's (Iwasaki) goldfish photos. The process of layering fantastic colors on top of the photos was a very free and fun time, like shaping the dreams that goldfish see. I used to hesitate to touch Jun's completed photos, but now I am proud that the sensibilities of the two of us overlap to create a deep depth that goes beyond the frame of photography.
Art Completed Together with Customers
The concept we cherish is "Completed by customers taking photos". While being wrapped in the cloth swaying in the wind and fantastic music, everyone cut out their own "best shot", and I felt a sensation as if the last piece of the work fit in.
The third Kokura Castle. It became an important week for us where "Photography", "Video", and "Music" melted into one, and a new horizon of Jun*Juane was seen.
