Shinjuku Marui: Long-run Exhibition 3rd Period - Digital & Real City Goldfish

Maturation of Resonating Space: Shinjuku Marui Exhibition 3rd Period (2023.8.17 - 9.5)

The "Jun*Juane Goldfish Photo Art Exhibition" at the Shinjuku Marui Main Building, which started in July 2023, received a greater response than initially planned. We received warm words from the venue side saying, "We want you to continue the exhibition as it is," so we extended the period further and held the 3rd period from August 17th to September 5th.

A Vast Sea of Goldfish Appearing in the Hustle and Bustle of the City

The venue, the basement floor of the Shinjuku Marui Main Building, is directly connected to Shinjuku Station and Shinjuku-sanchome Station, and is like an urban artery where hundreds of thousands of people come and go every day. We were allowed to develop the world of Jun*Juane using a large space of about half of that underground floor.

A space of goldfish spreading extensively right next to the flow line of daily life that passes busily every day. Encounters with people who stopped suddenly and immersed themselves in that quiet world became a great power supporting the long-term exhibition.

"Theatrical Exhibition" that Continues to Grow

During this period of about 3 weeks, we also cherished Jun*Juane's style of "Theatrical Exhibition". The quiet vitality of goldfish captured by Jun Iwasaki in the viewfinder. Tae Morikawa adjusts the vast space where the works are lined up little by little according to the air of the day and the atmosphere of the visitors. Because it was such a large venue and a long exhibition period, we were able to proceed while enjoying how the exhibition became more deeply familiar with the atmosphere of the entire building.

Attempt to Connect Digital and Real

In this extension period, while continuing our previous efforts, we also incorporated new technologies.

NFT Development (Continued):

Special NFTs commemorating the exhibition that we have been working on since the first time. We continued the attempt to leave the memories felt at the real venue in a digital form during this period as well.

AR/3D Goldfish Experience (New):

As a new attempt, we distributed "AR/3D Goldfish" where three-dimensional goldfish swim out into the space when you hold up your smartphone. We aimed for a continuous expression so that you can feel the presence of goldfish outside the venue and in each daily life.

The fact that we were able to keep goldfish swimming in a large space in the middle of Shinjuku well beyond the scheduled period is entirely thanks to everyone who stopped by and Marui who believed in us and entrusted us with the place.

The expression of Jun*Juane, where the sensibilities of Jun Iwasaki and Tae Morikawa melt into one, will proceed to the next step based on the many responses received at this place. Thank you very much for the long period.
