SIH International Business Contest 2025: Sending the Essence of Sustainability in Japanese Culture to the World

SIH International Business Contest 2025: Sending the Essence of Sustainability in Japanese Culture to the World (2025.6.1)
On June 1, 2025, Jun*Juane stood on the stage of the "SIH International Business Contest 2025" Asia-Pacific Qualifier. After the primary screening with a very large number of applications and the fiercely contested secondary screening, we were evaluated in the form of an "Award" and were able to stand on the podium as a finalist. We were able to achieve this result thanks to the companies who listened to our thoughts and provided us with valuable learning opportunities.
Sustainable Proposal Born from "Fabrics"
The core of this proposal was the form of a sustainable society through Japanese traditional culture "Furoshiki". We are continuing the activity of large-format Furoshiki to revive high-quality surplus fabrics, which would otherwise have been discarded, as valuable items once again. We were able to reach this form because we visited the actual fabric factory sites and were able to listen directly to the passion of the craftsmen and the stories contained in each fabric. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the companies that willingly accepted the factory tour. It was because we had the experience of feeling the "thoughts for the fabric" received from everyone first-hand that we were able to shape this activity without hesitation.
"Wrapping" Culture as Sustainability and Disaster Preparedness
In the presentation, we conveyed that the true sustainable spirit dwells in the Japanese culture of "wrapping" and cherishing things, which Japanese people have cherished since ancient times, not just recycling as environmental consideration. We also touched upon the multilateral aspects of Japanese wisdom, that this single piece of cloth not only colors daily life but also demonstrates great power as a preparation for "disaster prevention" in case of emergency. I feel that the potential of Furoshiki, which changes its shape flexibly and stays close to people's lives and lives, is the very kindness and strength needed for the future world.
Connecting the Baton to the World Competition
Along with the relief of "managing to remain this far", our steps continue to the next world competition. With the precious baton entrusted to us by everyone at the factory in our hearts, we would like to carefully deliver this scenery where Japanese tradition and sustainability blend together to the big place called the world in our own words. Thank you very much to everyone who supported us.
