Ten Fish, Ten Colors. A Gaze That Looks at "That Child's Uniqueness".

When you stare at the goldfish swimming in the aquarium, you notice that not a single one moves the same way.A gluttonous child, a slightly cautious child, a child who always follows someone behind.

Juane * here.Hello.

Today, I would like to talk about the rich "individuality" that goldfish have and how knowing their individual differences leads to health.

Fish Also Have "Personalities"

In the past, there was a time when fish behavior was thought to be merely a reflection of instinct. However, recent research has revealed that fish also have clear individual differences, that is, "personalities".Some types are full of curiosity and approach new things first, while others are cautious types who sensitively detect changes in the environment and hide in the shades. These differences in personality are part of the important diversity for surviving in the harsh natural world as a species.

Knowing "Normal" for That Child

In health management, what we want to acquire first is to have "standards for that child".Instead of applying generally the correct answer that "healthy goldfish move like this", how does that child usually swim and sleep ? Grasping "daily rhythm" only for that child will be the best evidence.

The child who usually comes to food first is stepping back today. The child who is usually quiet is swimming somewhat restlessly.I think that such a slight discomfort rooted in "individual" is the earliest SOS sign that cannot be measured by numbers or manuals.

Acknowledge Differences and Arrange the Environment

In an environment where multiple goldfish live together, their personalities may collide. Is the child who is too active causing stress to the cautious child, or is the food distributed equally to everyone ? Respect the way of each "individual" and arrange a "place" where everyone can breathe freely like themselves.

It may have something in common with the way of "community" where we interact with others in society and respect each other's positions.

Respecting the Brilliance of the Individual

Stare at each goldfish as an irreplaceable "individual".The deeper that gaze becomes, the more clearly the brilliance of life they emit will be reflected in our eyes.

We at Jun * Juane also cherish the unique atmosphere and will as an individual that one fish has when creating works. We hope to continue to carefully spin the beauty of "uniqueness" that does not fit into a mold.

Animal Personality: In recent years, in many animals including fish, the existence of "personality (behavioral syndrome)" where individual differences in behavior appear consistently over time and situations has been scientifically proven. This is not just an individual difference, but research is progressing as an evolutionary adaptive strategy.

Learning Ability and Cognition: Goldfish have very high learning abilities, and it is possible to identify the owner's face and remember specific sounds and lights in association with rewards. It has been reported that there are large differences between individuals in these learning processes and reaction speeds.

Diversity of Stress Response: Since the amount of stress hormone(cortisol) secretion and behavioral response to it(escape or freezing, etc.) differ depending on the individual, adjustment of the breeding environment according to individual personality is considered important for well - being(mental and physical health).
