Jumbo Oranda — The Magnificent "Vessel of Life" Nurtured by the Earth of Higo.

When we look at goldfish, we entrust our hearts to their delicate fluctuations. But when you meet this goldfish, the emotion might be closer to "admiration". "Jumbo Oranda" evolved uniquely in Kumamoto, Kyushu. As the name suggests, its figure exceeding 40cm, sometimes 50cm, is worthy of being called a giant underwater.Hello, I'm Juane*.

Today, I would like to talk about the dynamic aesthetics of the "Jumbo Oranda" in the photo, created by the passion to "nurture life big".

Powerful Bloodline Born from the Climate of Kyushu

The hometown of Jumbo Oranda is Nagasu Town, Kumamoto Prefecture.Based on the Oranda Shishigashira(Dutch Lionhead), it has been improved to be larger and more robust in this goldfish farming area dating back to the Edo period.Raised in spacious ponds bathed in plenty of sunlight, these goldfish have a dignified style that reflects the energy of the Higo earth.Along with delicate beauty, the "size" itself that overwhelms the viewer becomes an unshakable value.

Vestige of a Dignified "Lion"

While eyes tend to be drawn only to the size, its modeling is also magnificent. The magnificent flesh lump(wen) developing on the head is reminiscent of the mane of a lion, the king of beasts. (The child in the photo is not so big, but...) A thick body to support a huge body and a large fin to push water powerfully. The figure swimming leisurely but powerfully gives a sense of openness reminiscent of a large river or sea beyond the frame of a small aquarium.

"Goal" to Believe in Growth and Wait

The real thrill of raising Jumbo Oranda is in the process of its growth. "How big and magnificent can it become?".Owners believe in their potential and continue to interact with them carefully over many years. The figure of Jumbo Oranda increasing its presence day by day teaches us the "joy of continuing to grow".Tomorrow more than today, next year more than this year.Watching life expand its vessel feels like it leads to the power to believe in our own tomorrow.

Weight of One Fish Creating Scenery

A special "weight of air" is born only there where Jumbo Oranda swims. An overwhelming sense of existence that creates the scenery of the entire aquarium with just one fish.

We, Jun * Juane, want to capture the scale of this magnificent life without leaving anything out, from the texture of its skin to the power of a swing of its fin.We would like to continue to draw the figure of Jumbo Oranda with respect, filled with such a simple and powerful wish: "Big and healthy".

Origin and History : An original Japanese variety improved by aquaculture farmers in Nagasu Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, aiming for a larger size by crossbreeding the Dutch Lionhead with bloodlines such as Wakin from the Meiji to Taisho periods.Nagasu Town is still known as the "Village of Goldfish" and is a sacred place for Jumbo Oranda.

Growth Ability : When raised in an environment of appropriate size(pond or large tank), it is not uncommon for it to reach a total length of 30cm to 40cm or more, and there are records exceeding 50cm.This is more than double the size of a general goldfish and has a scale similar to a carp.

Morphological Features : While having the flesh lump(wen) on the head which is a characteristic of the Oranda Shishigashira, it has a long body length like a Wakin and a muscular body. This is also functional beauty developed by swimming actively in a vast pond.
