Welcome everyone.I, Yuugyotei Junmyoraku, will tell amusing tales of goldfish and the people of Edo.

Night 8 features the "Tancho"(Red - cap Oranda), with a pure white body and a bright red head, bearing an auspicious name like the crane.Enjoy this comical story of a man who worried unnecessarily upon seeing its appearance, which looked as if blood had rushed to its head.

So then, let it begin, let it begin...

Night 8: "Tancho's Patience Bag"

Well, people from Edo are short - tempered, which is no good.If shoulders bump slightly or words are insufficient, they immediately turn red in the face and get angry(raise horns).

Now, here is Kumagoro from the row house. He is also a short - tempered man with a fiery nature. He peered into the bowl of a "Tancho" goldfish that his retired neighbor had newly bought, but something seemed strange.

"Hey, Goinkyo (Retired Master). Who did this goldfish fight with? Its head is swollen bright red... It must have been bullied by others in the tank."

"Kuma-san, that's not it. This is called a Tancho, and this red head is its greatest pride."

However, Kumagoro was not convinced. "Don't be ridiculous. Just looking at a goldfish with such a rush of blood to its head makes me irritated too. Hey, goldfish! Don't just stay angry, have a little patience (kannin)!"

Kumagoro started lecturing the goldfish, but the Tancho just swayed its red head and swam as if the wind were blowing elsewhere.

"Look, Goinkyo. Even though I'm giving it advice, it ignores me and swims away. Ah, I'm getting angry! Hey, is that red thing because you have so much anger accumulated?!"

When Kumagoro pressed close as if to hit the tank, the retired master said in amazement.

"Kuma-san, the one who is angry is you. The reason this goldfish's head is swollen is not because it's angry, but because it's packed with fortune."

Kumagoro snorted and said,

"Heh. No wonder, no matter how much I yelled, it didn't stick out 'horns' but raised a 'bump' (wen) instead!"
