Tamasaba (Tamasaba) — Coexistence of "Roundness" and "Speed" Nurtured by the Snow Country.
With a charmingly round and plump body, and a powerful tail fin that extends straight and swiftly. "Tamasaba," which combines the elegance of a goldfish and the robustness of a crusian carp or koi in one body, is truly a "swimming jewel" born from the harsh climate of the Chuetsu region in Niigata Prefecture. This is Juane *.Hello.
Today, I would like to talk about the "unyielding form" of the goldfish "Tamasaba" in the photo, polished in the village of Nishikigoi.
"Functional Beauty" to Compete with Nishikigoi
The biggest feature of Tamasaba lies in the combination of a round body(Tama) like Ryukin and a powerful single tail(Saba) like a mackerel / carp.In regions such as Yamakoshi, known as the production area of Nishikigoi, goldfish have been raised together with koi in large ponds. In order to compete with large koi and swim quickly in search of food, they abandoned the fluttering long fins and acquired a "Funa tail"(crucian carp tail) that kicks the water powerfully. It is the ultimate functional beauty of how to optimize oneself within a limited environment.
Indomitable Vitality to Survive Severe Winter
Winter in Niigata is severe, and thick ice covers the ponds.Tamasaba has extremely high cold resistance and vitality that allows it to wait for spring at the bottom of the cold water.I think it is a form and a powerful silhouette to survive "now and here" without making excuses for harsh situations.
Swim Believing in Your "Form"
Even if there are large Nishikigoi around, Tamasaba pushes forward believing in its own tail fin without flinching.Instead of feeling inferior because "I am small," it makes use of the "round acceleration" that only it can do and radiates presence in a large community.
We humans sometimes feel overwhelmed by the size of our surroundings. However, looking at Tamasaba's straight eyes and powerful strokes, I realize again that it is important how to make use of one's own individuality and how to move towards the goal.
Pride of the Snow Country Reflected on the Water Surface
The vivid contrast of red and white of Tamasaba stands out even more in the clear water of the snow country.Unadorned, but powerful than anyone else. No matter how cold the water is, it continues to swim without losing its brilliance.I feel that the powerful trajectory drawn by Tamasaba is a definite cheer for us to head towards tomorrow.
Establishment of Variety : In the Chuetsu region of Niigata Prefecture(around the former Yamakoshi Village), it was created by crossing Ryukin and Yamagata Goldfish(Saba tail) alongside Nishikigoi farming. As a result of continuing to select individuals that are fast enough to swim with koi and are robust, this unique shape was fixed.
Superiority of Saba Tail : "Mitsuo"(tri - tail) and "Yotsuo"(four - tail) possessed by ordinary round goldfish have large water resistance and are difficult to gain speed, but Tamasaba's "Funa tail (Saba tail)" has extremely high propulsion efficiency and is extremely suitable for breeding in ponds with strong currents or wide environments.
Adaptability to Environment : It has outstanding cold resistance among goldfish and can overwinter under ice.In addition, it has relatively strong digestive function and has the property of growing easily to a large size. This can be said to be an example of highly adaptive evolution that established its own form in response to the environment.
